
An article on Fortune.com highlighted a recent by University of ÀË»¨Ö±²¥ researchers that shows that taking a computer science class in high school may increase students’ earning potential.
Assistant Professor in Education Policy Jing Liu, economics Ph.D. candidate Cameron Conrad and Associate Professor in Education Policy David Blazar found that workers who took a computer science class in high school earn a salary 8% higher than their peers on average at age 24. The salary increase is even higher among Black and female workers and those from low-income backgrounds, at 10 to 14%. In addition, the researchers found that salaries increase regardless of the field in which the workers are employed.
